in consequence of the missive, Elizabeth "shooting from the hip" over Charlotte.., penned by jeffrey
It seems that Elizabeth believes very strongly against marrying for money, especially in marrying someone one could never respect for money. Both girls are in the same boat: marry or be destitute. Elizabeth believes so strongly in her priciples that she makes would could have been a disastorous decision in not marrying Mr. Collins. IMHO, she sees Charlotte as weak because she let her fears over the future force her into marriage with a vain, silly man that she cannot care one jot for.
Also, we have to consider Elizabeth is quite young and prone to very strong feelings, like her mother and sisters, and feelings of disdain for those less intelligent or principled as herself. Her reaction to Charlotte's marriage is quite natural given her personality.
