I think the difference is that she's not attracted to the people in her family! Initial attraction tends to blind people. When Jane tries to tell her that she hasn't known Wickham long enough to determine the truth of what he says, she blows it off as though it's all part of Jane's too-nice vision of the world! So she uses her knowledge of Jane to insulate herself from the truth!
