Being related   Written by CarolTS (4/19/2010 12:53 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr Bennet and Mr Collins Sr., penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I've always assumed that Mr. Collins Sr. asked for money or something like that and got turned down by Mr. Bennet. He then stayed angry with him the rest of his life. Perhaps his wife died the same time that something happened in Mr. Bennet's life making it impossible for Mr. Bennet to notice (like in Persuasion), and Mr. Collins held it against him from then on.
