Mr. Collins' behavior Written by Anne-Marie (4/19/2010 9:57 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I too noticed that passage for probably the first time in my, penned by AnnetteJ

It is likely that he really doesn't know how to behave in the presence of those with money and rank, and so he bows and scrapes to anyone he perceives as a superior. He's also somewhat obsessed with money, talking about how much Lady Catherine paid for a mantelpiece and insisting that his small losses at cards don't really matter because of his income. I think he and Lady Catherine are very lucky to have found each other!
