reading of P&P. Yes, I think one can have some feeling of pity, or whatever you want to call it, for Mr Collins. A miserable childhood, probably never liked at school, and now suddenly has a patroness who is fabulously wealthy. So maybe we can cut him some slack for not being able to stop talking about his new-found fortune. And, after all, he did offer marriage for something he could take by rights.
