Please take a peak at the guidelines for Group Reads (linked below) -- we have a strict policy against alluding to what happens later in the book (spoilers). Your question that begins, "Hmmm, knowing the influence that Darcy wields (later) over Bingley" is asking for spoilers. I know that you've just introduced yourself, and that you probably weren't aware of the policy (or at least how strictly we adhere to it).

Please refrain from these references in future posts (we normally delete spoilers without comment).
