A bit harsh on Mr Bennett I think Written by RobertaK (4/16/2010 8:41 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, St Mary the Stupid (long), penned by Anselm

Mr Bennett has trouble with his wife. She lacks sense. She won't listen to him. Mrs Bennett did not give him the chance years before or he would have to deal with 'her nerves' as a constant companion if he disagreed with her. He gave up after some years.

Maybe he wasn't involved until Mrs Bennett was too involved with the younger ones and that gave him the chance to be involved with Jane and Lizzie.
