Are you new?

...we are told that "Jane, who had only been withheld by the fear of giving alarm or inconvenience from expressing in her note how much she *longed* for such a visit, was delighted at [Elizabeth's] entrance". Again, though I sympathize with wanting a familiar face when you are sick in a strange house, something in me still mutters "What, couldn't she even handle a *cold* without family support?" and don't forget that *Jane* thinks the Bingleys are treating her wonderfully well! ;-)
