Oh Barbara now that you tell me it is so clear! (:D) I like the idea Lizzy is reacting to the implication she is socially backward and Darcy is separating himself from his friends. Ridicule of this nature is something I think Lizzy is ready to pounce on anyway and rather expects from the sisters. (:D)
