In P&P0, Laurence Olivier (Darcy) addresses his inclusion of "extensive reading" by tapping Greer Garson's (Elizabeth's) book with his pen, implying that this last accomplishment is possessed by her. Thereafter, whenever I read the scene containing this interchange, I've wondered what could be his meaning?
