Are you new?

that she only walked to Netherfield because "the carriage was not to be had; and as she was no horsewoman, walking was her only alternative". So walking was not her first choice, which IMO tends to undermine the possibility that she wished to make some kind of statement. If she could have got the use of the carriage her appearance would have been perfectly normal.
