Mr. Bennet not thinking of Jane   Written by Karen G (4/15/2010 11:17 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Wouldn't this be somewhat out of character, penned by Anselm
Are you new?

I agree that Mr. Bennet was thinking more about how to fluster/irritate Mrs. Bennet, which he enjoys doing, by bringing up the consequences of Jane's illness. I must say, I didn't realize either, that Mrs. Bennet really didn't design that Jane would get caught outside in the rain, but merely be caught at Netherfield and not have a way to get home and have an excuse to stay. And when Mrs. Bennet is pooh-poohing Jane getting very sick, she is not really thinking of Jane either, but is merely defending herself from Mr. Bennet's verbal pokes.
