As daring as she has been portrayed in the book, Lizzy wants to present herself in her own chosen way to the people at Netherfield and perhaps make a statement in a rather overexpresive way that she hardly cares about money or possessions even if it's one the most elite of North England (Mr Darcy) who would be there to witness it all.
