participate in the worship experience. You don't have to sing the hymns, but you might want to read the words to the hymns, join in the prayers, and pay attention to the sermon. And then be willing to meet the regular congregants after the service.

Darcy was attending a social event, and he was not only NOT sociable, he avoided all attempts at being socializing. AND he insulted a young woman for no (valid/justifiable) reason. As far as Bingley's request, I didn't say that Darcy had to dance -- I said that was one option -- but he certainly could have said no a couple of times without insulting Elizabeth.
