I can't think of a single instance in which Darcy starts a conversation. I can't even think of an instance in which he joins a conversation.

He is always drawn into one -- or even dragged into it. Including conversations with his intimate friends!

Now, he's becoming fascinated by a young woman whose liveliness and wit are overcoming his arrogant aloofness...
