Mrs Bennet might have hoped the rain would hold off till after Jane reached Netherfield. As for clothing, if she arrived dry she would only need to borrow a nightdress, and it would not matter how well it fitted because Bingley would not be see her in it. And one the Bingley maids could do her hair for her.
