A perfect boring ball?   Written by Nina RG (4/14/2010 9:43 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Darcy, rude yet not boring., penned by Akaruihi
Are you new?

The Meryton Assembly? Really? Dancing, meeting new people, talking with friends and neighbours, gossiping...IMO, the ball was interesting and amusing in spite of Darcy, not because of him. As you say he was rude - how is that interesting? He slighted Lizzy - how is that amusing? It seems to me that Darcy is capable of making an amusing ball a little less so.

]Without Darcy, just another typical ball.

IMO, without Mr Bingley, just another typical ball - Mr Bingley was not rude, he didn't snub anyone, he did his social duty and was liked by everyone. I think HE was the kind of guy to make the ball interesting and amusing, not Darcy.
