That is the question (to paraphrase Hamlet)! And it is a question which, IMHO, can be very easily answered. Darcy was rude at the ball, behaving as Cheryl said in an amusing post, like a spoilt child, and as Robbin pointed out he did not behave in the manner expected of a gentleman. I am not prejudiced against Darcy, far from it. I just believe that rudeness does not need justifying.
