Sympathy   Written by Kathi (4/14/2010 7:19 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I think we might prefer, penned by Nancy Ann
Are you new?

I wouldn't like to spend much time with either of them, but I have more sympathy for Mrs. Bennet. I think Mr. Bennet's treatment of her shows a degree of cruelty, both to her and to the rest of the family.

Mr. Bennet might not be able to change his wife, but he might have been able to avoid making her worse, and he certainly could have avoided stirring up her nerves.

Your theory that Mr. Bennet gets his release by getting his wife to display who she is is interestng -- but wouldn't the family be better off if she wasn't doing that?
