I hate to see you standing about [] in this stupid manner.   Written by Stephanie (4/13/2010 11:09 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lol!, penned by Erica M.
Are you new?

He would only need to listen to the first part of a conversation, see if it were anything he was slightly interested in, or had anything to contribute to, and then SAY something. Why listen to a multitude of them? For heaven's sake, how did the man ever meet ANYONE? Can you imagine his friendship with Bingley having them acquainted for a couple of years before Darcy deigns to hold up his end of a conversation?

Miss Bingley saying he is remarkably agreeable among his intimates must be a skewed version, unconsciously or not. I think it more likely he is agreeable with BINGLEY, whose easy manners encourage Darcy to take the poker out, and bend a little.
