Particularly Interesting   Written by Andrea Gayle (4/13/2010 2:43 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mrs. Bennet exaggerates Darcy's offenses, penned by Connie
Are you new?

I was struck by the fact that Lizzy is arguably one of her least favourite daughters, presumably partly because Mr Bennet favours her, but as soon as someone dares to slight her all Mrs B's Mother Bear instincts come out and she cannot believe any good of him at all. Her "dislike of his general behaviour was sharpened into particular resentment by his having slighted one of her daughters" (ch. III).

I can imagine that at least part of her unwillingness to hear or speak any good of him stems from this.
