Coffee or Tea?   Written by BarbaraB (4/13/2010 11:43 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Sould have said, why coffee ?, penned by Benedicte
Are you new?

Tea is the name given this particular period about an hour or two after dinner when the men joined the women in the drawing room. Any beverage might be offered and regardless of what was offered it was still referred to as Tea even if they drank anything other than tea. It probably was called that because originally tea was the main beverage served though this was probably still true. Biscuits/cookies/ or some other light food might also be served. It was Tea Time no matter what they had.
