The older I get the more I realize how emotions can distort my reaction to a situation. That is why we attribute wisdom to the result of this learning. For Darcy, I believe, he was so focused on his cranky attitude (see my posting on his "Crankiness Factor")and dishing it out to whomever could receive it, that he had blinders on that evening. Once he saw Lizzie in other settings and he didn't feel as cranky, she became her own person complete with all of her delightful personality traits that removed his blinders.
