Thanks--this view does seem to make the most sense to me. In trying to make out his character, I really could not understand why Darcy would engage in this conversation with Miss Bingley at all. It has certainly helped to hear several different takes on scenes, characters, conversations, etc., which is, of course why we're doing the GR! :-)
