where Mr Knightley gave 'consequence' to Harriet who was slighted by Mr Elton.


Was Darcy saying indirectly that Elizabeth is not a favourite amoungst even the local men - and that he is not in the mood for being a hero by making her feel better about herself (assuming ofcourse he does not know Elizabeth's happy disposition)?
