I did not think of that, and I am not sure I buy it - no offense! Miss Bingley would certainly have needled Elizabeth (as we witness), but her pointed remarks frame herself (to me - not that I view things Mr. Darcy's way!) as a cold, pretentious snob that contrasts most negatively with Elizabeth's engaging, unaffected self-consequence.

Do you really think his plan was to have Miss Bingley's help in keeping his perspective about Elizabeth?
