Are you new?

Elizabeth hasn't met Darcy (& he refused to be introduced to this woman who was "not handsome enough" to tempt him). She may have been interested in meeting him prior to his insult, but she neither liked nor disliked him.

And who thinks that everyone has to like all the ladies? Liking them or not liking them is not the issue -- if Darcy had kept his insulting thoughts to himself, there would have been no problem. :-)

As for minding an insult: At such an age as Elizabeth, I think I would have minded very much being insulted by someone (even a stranger), especially in public. It matters not whether I like the person or not (nor whether I even know the person), I would mind the insult.
