Charlotte promotes willful ignorance   Written by Connie (4/12/2010 10:43 a.m.)
Are you new?

Charlotte Lucas argues in Ch. 6, "It is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life." Blindness, perhaps even self-deception in the face of the evidence, is her idea of marital bliss. Not a very high view of human nature.

But is this just banter? Lizzy replies, "You know it is not sound, and that you would never act in this way yourself." Wouldn't she?
