I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading this, the description of the novel on the back cover of my Penquin edition and reading the first two chapters I thought I could see the ending a mile off. I was so wrong. The twists and turns of the plot, the interupted plot device, the surprise ending, well! Although we have had a good laugh at some of happenings, giant helmet killing Conrad, a giant foot, nose bleeding statues, but I have a sneaky feeling HW was, if not exactly writting tongue in cheek, was parodying something, I know not what.

The best part has been reading this as a GR, thanks to the Mods and all who participated.
