That Theodore will fall in love with Matilda for being the person he can talk to about his love.


Which means he'll get a chance to pour out his feelings, sort of get purged.
This way he will not have to suppress them as he would have to if he were on his own trying to bear his sorrow.

Yes, I do see a very great possibility of Isabella winning his love. He is very young too, and growing up will change his attitude as well.
