]a)I know he couldn't see properly in the dark, but doesn't Theodore notice that Matilda's voice is different from Isabella's? She recognizes *his* voice. Also, he may be willing to lay down his life for every lady in distress that he meets, but he's awfully wordy in an emergency, isn't he? ;-)

LOL! I also thought he should have been able to tell the difference. And they were talking for such a long time that I was afraid someone might come and find them!
