More suspension of disbelief needed than usual ;-)   Written by Line (1/28/2006 10:53 a.m.)
Are you new?

There were a few things in ch.3 that I found hard to believe, even by the standards of this book!

a)I know he couldn't see properly in the dark, but doesn't Theodore notice that Matilda's voice is different from Isabella's? She recognizes *his* voice. Also, he may be willing to lay down his life for every lady in distress that he meets, but he's awfully wordy in an emergency, isn't he? ;-)

b) Frederic is supposed to be an experienced knight who has spent years on a Crusade. How is it that Theodore, who I assume is not a trained knight, manages to wound him three times while coming off scot-free himself?

c) Neither Frederic nor Isabella recognize each other at all. This one I find easiest to believe, since Frederic has presumably been away for most of Isabella's growing-up years, but does neither of them look even slightly familiar to the other?
