It is all so convoluted   Written by Tate (1/27/2006 1:00 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Jumping in late, penned by Deborah Julia
Are you new?

and that convolution is actually winning my affection. I dislike predictability in novels, most of the time. I am having a good bit of fun with the plot of CofO, because I can't quite say what is going to happen next. A giant fingernail perhaps? Manfred realizing that Hippolita is his mother and gouging outhis eyes? Who knows!

In all seriousness, I can quite understand the appeal of such a horrific novel to 18th century young audiences like Catherine Morland. It must have been absolutely frightening in a delicious, forbidden kind of way.
