Are you new?

I wonder how long after the beginning of the 'Gothic novel' by HW, did the lenghty descriptive style come into existance.

Udolpho really bores one with similar descriptions of nature repeated again and again.
I am glad HW didn't go into such lengthy descriptions of the castle, inspite of his great love for them.
I am happy to read the description of the castle as and when required by the story.

Have you found out yet what is behind the black veil ;-)
