Manfred is jealous of a younger man, I think and for all his tantrums and rages he has intuitively conjectured that Young Peasant is an impostor—even if he did not know it himself. Again, he still wishes to execute Theodore even though he has been acquitted of the crime of knowing Isabella by his friar-father. Being innocent does not count much with Manfred. I am never going to be able to hear the name Manfred and not think of this particular one. :D
