Shocking lack of giant body parts   Written by LaurieC (1/25/2006 9:27 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I don't know..., penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

Yes, I was hopeful after the promising beginning of Bianca dwelling on the gigantic leg and foot, that certainly something else would be found lying about the castle. Of course, the end of the chapter has the sable plumes bowing ominously, so there may yet be some hope...

I think my favorite part of this chapter was the exchange between Manfred and the monk. Manfred answers "with confusion," his colour changes several times. Does he have a conscience somewhere lurking beneath his jerk-like exterior? And the monk tailors his response to what he thinks Manfred wants to hear. For example, he talks of "the incestuous design on thy contracted daughter," but reasons that "the wisest conduct would be to prevent the prince from despairing of recovering Isabella." Then he goes on to "sow the seeds of jealously." Such interesting plotting under pressure going on here!
