in consequence of the missive, Is it just me, or is Chapter 2 anti-climatic?, penned by Laraine
...I was genuinely surprised when Theodore turned out to be the priest's son - though I probably shouldn't have been. But I couldn't help but laugh at how it was discovered - the old family birthmark identifier. LOL!
And Jerome seems a singularly silly priest. I can see letting Manfred think that perhaps Isabella might change her mind about taking the veil, but what was that about hinting that she and the peasant were lovers? And why? Because it might be helpful later on? Well, it is certainly not helpful in the present, for it has condemned his son to death.
And apparently Jerome is not just a priest, but the Count of Falconan? Hmmm.... do you think there's a story there we've yet to hear?
I don't know - there are no new giant body parts appearing (my favorite part of the book so far) but there was plenty of good, juicy, silly stuff in Ch. 2. ;)
