Are you new?

I'm afraid virtue--like obedience, duty, and modesty--is a lot (a LOT) more important to the damsels of Gothic Lit than backbone. About the only thing they have is flight instinct. They can often run, but they value resignation to providence as the best alternative if cornered.

Rather a disappointing lot to us these days. Catherine Moreland is a whole lot more admirable.
