why the most recent movie adaptation of NA shows a meeting with the prohibited suitor during the Tilney's walk in the woods with Catherine, but I think this is why - modern audiences, unfamiliar with the original work or the canon of works that JA is spoofing, wouldn't accept a solution for Eleanor that came out of the blue at the end of the book, so they had to give some hint about it earlier in the story.
