Yet another contrast between Henry and John
John (Ch 7): “Udolpho! Oh, Lord! Not I; I never read novels; I have something else to do.”
Henry (Ch 14): "The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid".
If Catherine has any remaining doubts about Mr. Thorpe's character, surely this will put them all to bed!
