A modern NA   Written by Frances G (4/10/2012 11:57 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, "Beer and Fast Cars", penned by Lynn
Are you new?

One of the things I've been struck with through Chapter 15 is how easy it would be to make a 21st century version of NA (a la Clueless). The characters are so timeless.

It is so easy for me to picture a fairly naive Catherine coming from the country to the big city, accompanied by Mrs. Allen whose focused only on the fashion that city folk are wearing. Catherine meets Isabella and doesn't understand her false and manipulative nature, at least at first. And she doesn't know what to make of the braggart John Thorpe who talks about how he always drives 100 mph and has never gotten a speeding ticket.

I can see how Henry fits in as well. Henry might be a young high school professor adored by his students for his ability to charm them and actually help them learn at the same time. A clergyman wouldn't fit very well in my fantasy adaptation :)
