I agree   Written by BarbaraB (4/10/2012 9:58 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Humor, penned by Kathy O.
Are you new?

Northanger is the book that I discuss on the boards the least of all of Austen's novels---I guess because it gets the least postings which, now that I think about it, is too bad because it is the funniest in my opinion. And, yes, John Thorpe, despite his lack of appeal as a person exudes a lot of hilarity in all of his boorish ridiculousness.

But then, of course, a parody by nature must be humorous to be successful, I would think. I always forget how much I love this book until I am actually reading it. :)
