Isabella, I think, is the flip side of the coin to Catherine. Catherine, we are constantly told, isn't like a heroine at all and has no pretence of being so. Isabella OTOH tries to adopt their mannerisms and affects their personality traits. This is brought into focus on chapter 15, where Isabella "gave Catherine a most pleasing remembrance of all the heroines of her acquaintance".

Despite the differences between them, both characters are being used to mock gothic novels.
