Quite a few things   Written by Rute (4/3/2012 1:28 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Chapter 1 - What do we know Catherine is?, penned by Lynn
Are you new?

Just from Chapter 1, we know she is tomboy, mostly kind but wild and noisy. She likes the outdoors and, for the first 15 years of her life, quite liked dirt. :P As she grows up, she starts to enjoy finery and long for balls. She also enjoys books, "provided that nothing like useful knowledge could be gained from them", which I take to mean that she enjoys novels.

In the beginning of Chapter 2, it is also stated that "her heart was affectionate; her disposition cheerful and open, without conceit or affectation of any kind — her manners just removed from the awkwardness and shyness of a girl; her person pleasing, and, when in good looks, pretty — and her mind about as ignorant and uninformed as the female mind at seventeen usually is."

Catherine is a rather ordinary girl, but she seems sweet, cheery and likeable.
