I have a memory that Author Austen's Juvenilia included a reference to King Richard being disliked because of his name, and that would have, of course, predated any injury done her because of a delay publishing Northanger Abbey. I can not find her History online right now, however, so would like to make sure I am not being lead astray by a mis-memory. Also, the preface to Northanger Abbey implies that no changes were made to the text prior to the belated publication.

Where did you see the explanation you gave?
