In the beginning of the book, Catherines father gives her 10 guineas.

As I have no idea if that is a lot or not very much, i am now asking you now :)

Also, I don't really understand whether Catherine was already aquainted with Mr.&Mrs. Allen before her trip to bath, and if yes, from where?

And also, were they good friends? because it seems to me like if Catherine didn't really appreciate Mrs. Allen's presence. :)
