The one thing (although I am not so disappointed this read) that I always felt was that NA's ending is so from almost out of nowhere. We don't get any hints of what is in the works to change the ending of NA. Does anyone else wish there would have been a little hint given by JA about Eleanor's heart being attached to a poor relation afar off, etc.? We don't get a lot of information about Eleanor except that she has a lovely brother, is exquisitely polite and completely proper in any way. Yet, we don't even (after 4 weeks with her at Northanger Abbey) get the impression that she sings, plays, or dances particularly well. I believe she can draw, though, as we can gather from her conversation with Catherine and Henry in Bath.
I think I will have to read some fanfiction about the story of Eleanor, leading up to the dramatic change of her circumstances, which catapulted her into high esteem by her father, etc., etc.
