To a certain extent   Written by Line (3/25/2009 10:32 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Does anybody else have any sympathy for Isabella?, penned by Cathy Allen
Are you new?

I feel very little sympathy for Isabella herself, but I do feel some sympathy for her position as an unmarried woman in that time and place. Regarding MP, I'm not sure if you mean Mary Crawford or Maria (Bertram) Rushworth. :-) If it's Maria, I really don't think that Isabella's position is as bad as hers. It was, after all, semi-acceptable, if frowned on, to break an engagement. However, marriage was a woman's career, and I doubt there were a lot of eligible men around home for Isabella.
