But why would Alice be able to receive mail at Lord Longtown’s? Written by Cathy Allen (3/25/2009 7:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I think it is probably her maid., penned by Lynn

My immediate thought was that it was the daughter of the house. Of course though, as you say, Catherine WOULD be more comfortable with having Eleanor's maid receive her letter.

Another of JA's mysteries. Ah, if only we could ask HER...
