I have *really* enjoyed this discussion. I've never liked Henry's statement about Isabella receiving different treatment if she were a different person, but have always swept passed it. Oh, dear, I've been sweeping unpleasantness aside just like Henry! ={

I've really enjoyed delving into Henry's motives for saying what he does about the less than savory character of his brother. I never realized before this discussion just how much Henry keeps the peace to the detriment honest communication regarding the bad behavior of others. On the other hand, the others in question are his father and older brother - elder family males expecting and demanding Henry's submission and respect. In breaking with his father over the mistreatment of Catherine, Henry steps out from under the General's tyranny and fully becomes his own man. Thank you for causing me to more fully appreciate Henry's growth and maturation.
